Why our music's free : 2007-08-16 ( Covert Redpoint )
Why do we give our music away?
Fair question. In short: we care about music, not about the increasingly absurd process of extracting and refining vast volumes of petroleum to ship somewhat smaller amounts of more-highly-processed petroleum and aluminium around the world, so you can rip it, put it on your iPod and shelve it straight away anyway. And free? If you want to get any record online, you can find it for free; so why not cut out the middleman? That way we can concentrate on the cool stuff; making music, making objects you might actually want, throwing events, and causing trouble. (Plus: CD artwork's rubbish. We never said we wouldn't consider vinyl...)
